1. What kind of Identification is needed?
Tattoo and piercing studios are regulated by the Texas Department of Health. At this time we are allowed to only perform body modifications on adults who have a government photo identification. This ID can be such as a drivers license, military ID, or a passport.
We can perform piercings on minors with the authorization of their parents or legal gaurdians. The son or daughter, if they don’t have a state issued drivers license or identification card, must provide a picture identification such as a school ID and their birth certificate. If the minors name is different from the parent’s then we need to see documentation that shows the name change (marriage liscence, divorce documents, etc.)
2. Does it hurt?
Not as much as you think. Most piercings are very quick some are very intense but short-lived and some piercings, like the tongue, hurt very little. It depends on the composition of the material that’s being pierced as to whether it will hurt much. Most often people look surprised when the piercing is over and say, “That’s it?” Yep that’s it and we stomp on your toes when you get up so you feel you’ve received your moneys worth.
Tattoos range from feeling like an irritation to pain. Location of the tattoo often determines the amount of discomfort. For example, a tattoo on the meaty part of the arm is relatively painless but a tattoo on or near a bone can be painful. But even though it is painful, it is endurable, otherwise you wouldn’t see so many tattoos.
We haven’t had to strap anyone down (at least not that I can recall) and your worst enemy is your mind. People work themselves up to a point of high anxiety and it is not necessary. I’m going to hurt your wallet more than your body.
3. What kind of tattoo is good to get?
REMEMBER - TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT. Since i’ve said that, I want you to get a tattoo that you want to live with for the rest of your life. A tattoo should reflect you, your personality, your basic core values, your heritage, or a beautiful design you’ve loved for years. A tattoo should not be an impetuous decision.
We also advise our clients, between the ages of 18-25 to be especially careful on placement of tattoos. We don’t think it is advisable for our younger clients to get what we call public tattoos (those tattoos that are not covered easily by a short sleeved shirt). We live and work in south Texas and most employers are still very conservative and we have to respect their opinions if we want a job. In addition, it may not be very romantic, but we don’t recommend that you get a name or initials tattooed on you unless they are a relation through blood. Like I said, it may not be very romantic sounding but unfortunately , tattoos last longer in today’s society than most relationships!
We have thousands of images for our clients to choose from. From black and whites to colors that exceed the rainbow, subject matter from the serious to the fanciful so feel free to come browse through our wall flash and archives. If you are still not sure, our artists will be happy to work with you to create an image that you will be proud to wear. Approximately 30% of our tattoos are custom pieces where clients provide ideas or suggestions (pictures from media and internet sources) and work together with the artist until the image is right for them.
